There are various management interfaces that can be used for adding users and services, including:
MiVoice Business - User and Services Configuration (USC) form or Mitel Configuration Wizard (MiCW)
MiCollab - User Service Provisioning (USP)
Microsoft® Active Directory
As of MiVoice Business Release 7.2, MiVoice Business nodes can share data via SDS with MiCollab 7.0 (and up), in support of the Flow Through Provisioning feature. The feature allows you to configure and manage users and phone services from a single interface, preferably the MiCollab USP application. Templates and Roles are used to simplify the configuration effort.
Flow Through Provisioning uses SDS to update MiVoice Business and MiCollab databases following any user- or service-affecting changes on either platform. The feature also provides single sign-on to the administration interfaces for the Mitel communications network. After you sign into the MiVoice Business System Administration Tool, you are granted Reach Through access to the MiCollab USP application, and vice versa. Direct links allow you to access specific programming forms on one platform from forms on the other platform.
NOTES
Although changes made to the user and services data on the MiVoice Business system are distributed to the other systems, including MiCollab, the recommended best practice is to perform all user and service provisioning form the MiCollab USP application.
Users, phone services, roles, and templates can be created and shared across the network, but services can be added, modified, and deleted only from the MiCollab USP interface.
The basic steps to enable Flow Through Provisioning are:
Ensure that all SDS - Guidelines and Limitations and Synchronization Rules for sharing with MiCollab are met.
Add the MiCollab system as a network element to the Network Elements form (server type "MSL Server").
In the Network
Elements form
Check the box of the MiCollab server (MSL Server type).
Click Start Sharing (see SDS - Start Sharing Data).
Click OK.
When the Start Sharing operation completes, the system performs an automatic full synchronization (with no option to stop it). See Synchronization Rules for MiCollab for details.
NOTE: In MiVoice Business, Login IDs are case sensitive (so, smithF and smithf are two unique Login IDs). However in MiCollab, Login IDs are not case sensitive (so, smithF and smithf are the same Login ID). To avoid conflicts during the synchronization, ensure that all Login IDs consist of a unique set of characters.
For more information, including details on system requirements, conditions, and configuration procedures, refer to the following documentation on the Mitel Customer Documentation web site:
"MiCollab Installation and Maintenance Guide"
"MiCollab General Information Guide"
"Provisioning Users in Mitel Solutions"
If the Flow Through Provisioning feature is not configured (MiVoice Business is not sharing data with MiCollab), you can add new users and services using the User and Services Configuration form.
NOTES
Prior to adding users and/or services, program templates and associate them with user roles. See About Templates and Roles for more information.
If you wish to add a large number of users, you can use the Import functionality. See About Importing User and Device Data for more information.
For MiVoice Business Release 7.0, the import operation does not support multiple services per user. The import file will contain users with a single phone service. Each phone will have a unique user record. If you want to have users with multiple phone services, you can disassociate phone services from users and then associate them with the appropriate users.
All new users are created with their prime line set as a Single Line. However, if a user is created with a template that has a Key or a Multicall appearance of its own DN, then the prime line for that user is set as a Key or Multicall line, respectively.
New users and services can be created by
using the Add button and selecting the appropriate role/template
OR
selecting an existing user or service in the Search Results tree and then selecting Add New Phone to User or Add New User to Phone.
With this method, a new user/service is created and at the same time associated with the selected service/user. No templates, just blank forms, are used to configure the new user or service. Only local services can be created using this method.
NOTE: You can also use the Copy Phone functionality to copy data from an existing record and use it to create a new record. However, if the copied phone had any associated MiCollab service, the new phone or user will not have them -- only the user and phone data is copied. See Copying Users and Services for details.
Once users and services are created, they can be associated with other existing services and users. Multiple phone services can be associated with a single user and multiple users can be associated with a single device.
Based on the selected role/template, the following records can be created:
a user only (no associated service)
a user with one to eight services
a service only (no associated user)
a service with one user (when the Add button is used)
a service with more than one user (not available when the Add button is used - templates can only have one user; additional users can be added once the service is created)
After creating a user, you can click the
button to send them a welcome
email containing their service credentials and other information.
Go to the User
and Services Configuration form.
Click Add and then do one of the following:
To apply a customized template associated with a user role, select By Role <User Role>.
NOTES:
You cannot add users using a template that includes any MiCollab services. These templates are not available in this form.
In the MiVoice Business Release 9.0 or later, select the Service Profile tab.
Choose Analog-FXS while programming analog sets on an EX Controller in the Device Type drop-down list.
The Device Type drop-down list defaults to No Device if the template associated with a user role consists of unsupported devices.
To apply the default template, select Default User and Device.
Click the appropriate tab and update the required user's and/or service's Profile, Device Details, Service Details, Access and Authentication, Phone Application and Keys information.
NOTES
In the Device Details tab, for the Endpoint ID field, the server allows you to choose the Endpoint ID of your choice and applies it on the Analog FXS card. If you do not choose an Endpoint ID, the server assigns the later available Endpoint ID on the Analog FXS Card.
Characters [, ], | are not allowed in user’s First Name and Last Name fields.
If Voicemail is part of the selected template and you wish to configure it, click the Voicemail sub-element in the user structure tree on the left and configure all required fields displayed on the right.
Voicemail option can be added or deleted once the new record is saved.
NOTES
The Directory Number and Device Type field are required fields.
Fields contain values defined in the template associated with the user role you have selected. Fields not programmed in the template will contain default values.
You cannot add additional users or services until the Add operation is saved.
Click Save Changes to apply the changes and create the new record. Click Cancel at any time before saving to abort the Add operation.
Once saved, the newly created record is displayed and auto-selected in the search result tree on the left side of the form.
This procedure creates a new local service and associates it with the selected user. You can also use this procedure to create a new user and associate it with the selected service.
NOTE: Multiple (up to eight) services can be associated with the same user, but only if all those services are hosted by the same primary host.
Go to the User
and Services Configuration form.
In the Search Results tree, select the record (user or service) and click the displayed down arrow (alternatively, right-click the record). From the drop-down list, select Add New Phone to User or Add New User to Phone.
A new sub-element (New Phone Service or New User) is displayed under the selected record and the appropriate detail configuration tabs are displayed in the right-hand pane.
Click the appropriate tab and configure, as required, the User Profile or the Service Profile, Device Details, Service Details, Access and Authentication, Phone Application and Keys information.
NOTE: Voicemail option can be added to the service once the new record is saved.
Click Save Changes to create the new service or user and associate it with the selected user/service. Click Cancel at any time before saving to abort the operation.
Go to the User
and Services Configuration form.
Locate the phone service to be associated with the user. Enter the number in the search field and perform Search By Number to quickly locate the service or leave the search field blank to display all currently configured phone services.
In the Search Results tree, select the phone service and click the displayed down arrow (alternatively, right-click the service). From the drop-down list, select Associate Phone with User.
The Associate Phone to User dialog box opens displaying currently configured users' Name, Department, Location, and Numbers for services already associated with each user.
From the displayed list, select the user to which you wish to add the service (you can also use the Search option to quickly find the user).
NOTE: Only one user at a time can be selected.
Click the Associate button. Clicking Cancel will abort the operation and close the dialog box.
